Welcome to our counselling and psychotherapy pages. Here you’ll find details of our brand new series, Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice. Written specifically to support students on degree and masters course in Counselling and Psychotherapy, these books are practical in focus and concentrate on linking theory to everyday practice. They also contain activities to aid learning including case studies, reflection points, critical awareness tasks and further reading lists.

All the books in this series are directly relevant to BACP-accredited courses, and link in to the new regulatory framework as set out by the Health Professions Council.

New Books for 2010

What is Counselling and Psychotherapy? Available now, and the first book in the series, this book gives an overview of the profession from its early beginnings in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis through the development of the different schools and approaches of talking therapies including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural and person-centred approaches. Reflective Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy To be published in May 2010, it takes students on a step-by-step journey through the history of reflective practice. A central theme of the book is the concept of self-reflection and what motivates a therapist to do an often difficult and sometimes emotionally-complex job. Click here for more details.
